Tampa, Florida (April 2, 2025) – Precision Build, a global leader in storage, structural steel and service solutions, has acquired Tampa Steel Erecting Company (TSEC), a steel fabricator best known for building complex bridges and iconic structures such as the Disney Epcot Spaceship Earth geodesic dome.
TSEC, a private company, has been owned by Bob Clark and his family since its founding in 1945. Going forward, TSEC will be wholly owned by Precision Build. Terms of the deal were not announced.
“We’re thrilled that Bob Clark and the extended TSEC family have agreed to join the Precision Build family,” said David Hemming, Precision Build Companies CEO. “Together we can work to significantly grow the business. This is very much a strategic acquisition for us and we look forward to growing together.”
The current TSEC location, just six miles away from Precision Build’s headquarters in Gibsonton, FL, encompasses 33 acres and boasts more than 220,000 sq. ft. of fabrication buildings. The facility will immediately become part of Precision Build and the entire organization will fall under the direction of Corey Yraguen, President & CEO of Precision Build Solutions.
“Our aim is to welcome the entire TSEC team into Precision Build, starting with Bob Clark. We are thrilled that Bob has agreed to remain as TSEC President to provide his experience and stewardship,” explained Yraguen. “TSEC’s expertise in steel bridges, particularly tub girders, is complementary to our business and will broaden our scope and capacity for fabricated steel products to better serve our customers.”
With the addition of TSEC, Precision Build will have a leadership position in fabricating and erecting complex steel structures. Some of TSEC’s more notable projects include the fabrication and erection of structural steel for the 39-story One Tampa City Center and the pipe trusses for Airside F at Tampa International Airport. Some notable fabrication only projects include 14,000 tons of steel for Tampa Electric’s Big Bend Power Station #4, 1.4 miles of elevated people mover girders for the Omni Extension in Dade County Florida, and the Acosta Bridge approach ramps for the Florida Department of Transportation.
“I’ve been asked if it’s bittersweet to sell the company that has been such an important part of our family,” said Clark. “The answer? Absolutely not. We’re giving the company a better future and we’ve found a home for our team. Our customers should continue to expect the great quality, schedule performance, and service that TSEC is known for as Precision Build shares the same values that we’ve always tried to live up to. I’m truly excited for the future.”
The name, Tampa Steel Erecting Company, will be retained.
